Working for a Fairer IT Future in Education

by 7th October 2020News

Europoint is proud to announce a partnership with the Fair-AIEd research project, supported by UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship scheme.

The Fair-AIEd project is concerned with examining the impact of Public Private Partnership initiatives on the use of AI in education in two African contexts (Ghana and South Africa) as examples of emerging market economies. As well as the implications that AI systems might have for teaching and learning, the project will investigate potential benefits, harms, and risks associated with the leadership roles that corporations play in design and use of AI within the educational practices of developing nations.

Europoint has been chosen as the primary supplier to deliver project management consultancy through the duration of the project.

We have also designed and developed the Fair-AIEd website (https://www.fair-ai.com), which has received plaudits from Microsoft and the Alan Turing Institute.

As I was developing my research project on AI and education, I spoke to various software developers about the Algorithmic Impact Assessment instrument I wanted to build.
Europoint was the only company that understood what I was looking for, and was able to offer coherent initial suggestions for how the technology would be developed. Matthew was professional, patient and kept me involved in every step of building the initial website. A pleasure to work with.
